Today I went down to check out Gyeongbok Palace, “the main and largest palace of the Joseon Dynasty” (according to Wikipedia). It’s a sprawling compound with nice buildings in that Forbidden City style they have over in China. I figured it’d be a great place for a day of shooting… well, at least I was half right. There’s plenty of shooting to be had there, just none of the “place” itself. There were a ton of people there, yes, even those annoying tour groups with the flag-waving tour guide.
So you go into the place imagining a nice wide-angle shot of the main throne building, sun-setting behind the mountains in the background… a beautiful, National Geographic worthy shot. You compose, focus, hit the shutter, and end up with stuff like this:


Hey, at least I can prove I was actually there! Anyway, thank goodness in a place like this there’s lots of beautiful details to be photographed. Here’s a few I found:
