Film? What’s that?

There was a period a few months ago (after I sold my D2X in anticipation of the arrival of my D3) where I had no digital SLR to shoot with. All those beautiful Nikkor lenses were sitting around all lonely so I went a little nuts and went to the Urban Outfitters near my work to pick up a cool Lomo Fisheye camera. What? You’ve never heard of Lomo, or Lomography as it’s officially known by? Then head right over here to the Lomographic Society homepage and check out all the yummy goodness that good ol’ film (yes, I said film… you know, the stuff you have to take to K-mart and develop before you can see all the crappy photos that didn’t come out right?) and a cheapy camera with a funky lens can do.

Anyway, the Lomo Fisheye I got is one of the few (if not only) cameras out there that have a fisheye lens built into it. The pictures that come out of it have this great color and amazing 170 degree image circle… yes, just like a fish would see looking through their fishbowl. I definitely recommend getting yourself one of these if you have an extra $40-50 sitting around and want to experiment with a lens that’d cost you 10x as much for your SLR. Have a look at this series of images I shot of my bike with the Lomo:
